Mark Nelson – PGA Golf Instructor
The first stage in teaching any aspect of golf is for me to understand what the client is looking to get out of having lessons. Many have targets they want to achieve such as gaining a handicap, breaking 100 or lowering their handicap. For others they may want to improve a certain aspect of their game such as short game, off the tee or putting. Some clients also come to me for a course to prepare them for an upcoming society or team event. I then try to build a clear picture of their golfing background, any injuries and any other sports they play that might influence the golf swing.
Once I have all the information I need I can then suggest the best course of action and set short term and long term goals. Golf lessons and practice routines need to fit in with my clients lifestyles in order for them to make steady progress. For some one or two individual lessons will provide them with the tools needed to go away, reinforce and put into practice their new techniques. Others might find a package of lessons over a longer period of time helpful as this allows us to work on various different aspects and depending on the package get on the course together too.
